In 1953, Bill Haley wrote "Crazy Man Crazy."
The song became the first rock and roll record to make the Billboard pop chart reaching the Top 20.Haleys next song, Rock Around the Clock introduced rock n roll to America.
Originally recorded by Sunny Dae in 1952, Rock Around the Clock had sales topping 75,000. Rock Around the Clock was a modest hit, until the song was used as the title track of The Blackboard Jungle, a movie about juvenile delinquents, twelve months later.His next record, Shake, Rattle and Roll was a top ten hit. It was the first rock n roll record to sell a million copies. With that record, Bill Haley and the Comets were off and running. The Saturday night rock n roll show begins at 7 p.m., and will include a neon parade of lights, a hot rod flamethrowing contest, and a family fireworks show.
